The composer writes: "The Language of The Stars" is a celebration of the beauty and majesty of our night sky — a song sung to the stars themselves. The text, excerpted from a poem of the same name by Martha Lavinia Hoffman, speaks of a longing to understand the mysteries of our vast and remarkable universe while still being tethered to the earth. This work was commissioned and premiered by Arcady Ensemble, conducted by Elise Naccarato, at "Arcady's 20th Anniversary Concert" on October 26, 2019 in Brantford, Ontario. Originally composed for choir and piano (or orchestra) this attractive piece is full of wonder and has been freshly arranged for concert band (and modified to a more band-friendly key) as part of an ongoing project to bring more music by women into the worldwide repertoire. #ArrangeMeGoals2023.
