"La Bamba" has no direct English translation, but "the dance" that is referred to is presumably connected with the Spanish verb "bambolear" - which means to sway, shake or wobble. It is a lively dance, for sure. A traditional version of this dance is often performed at weddings. This String Trio arrangement has the 2 violins in close harmony on the melody - like unto the violins in a Mariachi Ensemble. The cello maintains the familiar walking ostinato bass line throughout.
