The piece has four movements, according to the four Sundays of Advent. The message of the work is connected to the fourfold meaing of the advent-sundays by pope Inocent the 3rd (after Bernard Clairvaux) - 1st when Jesus came in flesh; 2nd when He enters our heart and converts us; 3rd when, at the hour of our death, He visits us; 4th when He comes at the final judgment.
