Beach Boys purists consider this 1988 song -- recorded two decades after the band's heyday -- a heresy. Yeah, maybe, but it was wildly popular and remains so. Never mind that there's no Kokomo in the Florida Keys. It's a town in Indiana where the surf is almost never all-time. Or maybe a private resort island in Fiji, but that was probably named after the song. And the music video for Kokomo was filmed at the Grand Floridian Hotel at Disney World in inland Central Florida, where the surf is also never quite up.
