Adapted from Psalm 139, “Know My Heart” was originally written for the 1993 Louisiana Baptist All-State Youth Choir. But don't think this piece can only be used with youth; it's a beautiful SATB anthem any adult choir would be proud to sing. Psalm 139 is one of the most comforting of the Psalms and Benjamin Harlan's setting of it makes it even more meaningful. A very free and expressive a cappella section written in triplets precedes a majestic restating of the opening lines of the Psalm. Concluding with a quiet plea, “O know my heart, O God,” “Know My Heart” will be a memorable choral offering that's worth a little extra rehearsing. Outstanding.
