Published by Dickie Horn (A0.1698468).Originally released in 1994 this song rose to fame when it was rereleased a year later to be included in the Batman Forever film soundtrack by it’s writer Seal. The French Horn takes the melody after the introduction which then adds the 2nd Trumpet and passes it to the Trombone before the 1st explodes into the chorus. A round occurs later on with the Horn and Trombone playing against the two Trumpets which leads the melody to the Trombone before the Tuba gets to see the tune.
With shifting compound time signatures care needs to be taken with the rhythms in this slow waltz like feel.
A great piece to master and play at a celebration like a wedding, on the bandstand, or in a concert - “Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey. Ooh, the more I get of you, stranger it feels, yeah. Now that your rose is in bloom, a light hits the gloom on the grey.”
