This lovely work is a setting of the prayer for mission from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. While most of the anthem is set in the middle range, the piece rises to a high climax for all voices as they sing, "shield the joyous". The work ends quietly with repeated, almost whispered amens. Mr. Walker has given special attention to the rhythmic setting of the words so that the lines have a natural grace. This would be especially appropriate at choral Evensong services.
