We had two main goals in mind when we started work on this collection for beginning band. First, we wanted to make sure the music was easy enough for students to play successfully after only eight to ten weeks of instruction. So, the pitches and rhythms used in this collection are limited to those typically covered in the first nine pages of most method books. Our second goal was to make the music interesting, fun and rewarding for these young players. We enlisted the help of some great beginning band teachers (and their students!) and we hope you agree that the music in this collection is easy enough for real beginners to play well and "cool" enough to keep them engaged. The enhanced CD with the score has full performances of all the music, accompaniment tracks for three of the pieces and a wealth of other resources for the busy teacher-including a concert program and invitation, parent follow-up letters, motivational ideas and more.
