Recorder Duet Alto Recorder - Level 4 - Digital Download
SKU: A0.1846372
Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Jens Lohmann. This edition: pdf. Baroque, Chamber, Early Music. Score. 33 pages. Jens Lohmann #1405935. Published by Jens Lohmann (A0.1846372).
Arrangements were common practice during the Baroque period. On the one hand, they were intended to express appreciation for a particular composition. On the other hand, works were transcribed, for example, into duet form, in order to make popular compositions accessible to a wide circle of music lovers for domestic performance. A particularly prolific figure in this field was the London publisher John Walsh (1665–1736), to whom we owe many editions for chamber music ensembles. In this edition, following this tradition, I have produced a selection of famous pieces and arias arranged for two alto recorders. I have included slurs and trills only where they appeared in the sources I used. In the arrangements of the two arias, however, I have placed the slurs according to the distribution of the text. This differs in particular from the slurs in the instrumental part in the aria ‘Frohe Hirten’. Here, the performer is free to experiment with their own articulations and slurs.
Contents: Concerto for 2 Violins in D minor, BWV 1043 • Vivace • Largo, ma non tanto • Allegro
Frohe Hirten, from the Christmas Oratorio, BWV 248
Zerfließe, mein Herze from the St. John Passion, BWV 245
Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565.
