Words and music by Jay Althouse

This is a lyric, flowing testament to the love of Jesus, who died for our salvation. The first verse begins quietly, pondering the mystery and wonder of Christ's sacrifice. The constant eighth notes of the accompaniment suddenly pause as the choir pauses to reflect, "Jesus died for me." Gradually increasing in intensity, the dynamics rise to forte as we view the scene at Calvary. Rich harmonies and solid choral writing provide an inspired anthem for general worship, Ash Wednesday, Lent and Holy Week.

Perfect Good Friday anthem
I enjoyed singing this piece with our small choir. It was a perfect Good Friday anthem for the Tenebrae service The Seven Last Words. The tone of the words was reflected well in the melody. It was easy to learn but still very powerful.
