Good 'Jet Ride' Intro to Jazz-Rock Fusion
I was looking for some inspiration, and found some here in this book. This book displays the elements of jazz-rock guitar playing in the form of well organized 'snippets' of information, and is not an in-depth dissertation by any means. But it is a fun, informative 'jet ride' through the elements of jazz rock guitar playing. The book gives some typical riff and chord style examples of several of our fav jazz-rock guitarists (Schoefield, Holdsworth, for instance), and even offers recommendations in the use of guitar FX to use for some of the samples to emulate those famous players. This book is far beneath the realm of experienced jazz-rockers, but if you are in search of 'the uncommon chord' and are curious about the elements of jazz-rock music as pertaining to the guitar, this book/cd is an excellent springboard for further study.
