A jazz reharm and elaboration of "Das alte Jahr vergangen ist" ("The old year now hath passed away", BWV 288), a meditative and grateful chorale with a fascinating chromatic accompaniment that evokes a passed year full of challenges and troubles, all resolved in the end; here arranged for the classical Wind Octet (two Oboes, two Clarinets in Bb, two Horns in F, two Bassoons). I've added rich harmonical parts and a distant counter chant to evoke a mysterious old-fashioned scenario, like the reminiscent soundtrack of an old black and white movie. Duration: 53".
