Solid Collection for the Working Musician
This volume provides a dependable selection of jazz ballads. The chord symbols are accurately notated, and the arrangements of these standards are straightforward for quick sight-reading on gigs. Having the online audio to practice with various instrumental parts, including a removable piano, is a practical bonus for perfecting soloing. Excellent Resource for Intermediate Students
This Hal Leonard Jazz Play-Along is ideal for my intermediate students. The 'medium' difficulty level is challenging yet accessible, and the lead sheets are clearly engraved, which helps with reading and rhythm studies. The online audio with melody cues and rhythm tracks is an invaluable tool for developing phrasing and ensemble playing. Highly recommended for school and community usage.

While primarily designed for instruments, this Play-Along offers valuable tools for vocal coaches or collaborative pianists. fun to play
I found this collection very enjoyable for my level. I've studied clarinet for 18 months and discovered it's not easy to find music that is interesting for an adult student. It's exciting (and motivating) to play some of my favorite jazz ballads. The lead sheets can be a little confusing if you aren't used to seeing the chords written above the music, but once I became familiar with the format it wasn't a problem. Also, the accompanying CD is very useful. There are two versions of each song, one with the whole ensemble, and one version minus the soloist. The recording is well done for this sort of thing. The bass was particularly useful for counting.

Jazz Ballads Vol 4
This is the first time I have purchased a 'play-a-long' CD and music. I am delighted with it. The parts are v.simple and easy to read, even for a pore sight reader such as me. I haven't played along with other musicians for many years and no longer have the opportunity. Keeping good time discipline was initially more difficult than I imagined, but v. good practice.Once the tunes are mastered , it is then fairly easy to improvise jazz solos. This is v satisfying.I play Alto Sax

A great job again by Hal Leonard,these backing tracks are great and professional.I have played along with all the tracks and they sound fantastic.One thing that I do very much like is not only the improvisation that one can put over the tacks, but each track gives one the opportunity to complete a solo improvisation over a number of bars in each tune.Thanks for this product.Are there more of this sort ?
