An arrangement of Massanet's popular "Méditation", a symphonic intermezzo from the opera "Thaïs". The piece was originally written for solo violin, orchestra and backstage chorus as an instrumental entr'acte and was performed between the scenes of Act II opera, premiering at the Opéra Garnier in Paris,1894.
Massenet made this particular arrangement of the Méditation for voice and keyboard in 1894 as an Ave Maria, which became a standard piece on many weddings of the era.
