DeVenney's careful editing and research brings it to the performance hall again. A teacher at the New England Conservatory, JCD Parker was an excellent craftsman. This a cappella love song is absolutely charming. All three verses have musical similarities but the lyrics, by Heinrich Heine and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, differ in their exporessions of love. A delightful madrigal style piece it is easy to medium in difficulty.
