Composed by Philip Orem. Contemporary. Score and parts. 174 pages. Philip Orem #3513655. Published by Philip Orem (A0.872602).
Commissioned by the Verona Area Concert Band in memory of Ed Senechal, one of their founders and a dear friend of mine. This piece is based on the poem at the front of the score. A solo flute (Ed's instrument) plays the first few lines of the poem and is answered by the piano (my instrument) responding E-D. These motives are developed throughout the piece that explores the spectrum of emotions one experiences with the death of a loved one.

SCORE SHOULD BE PRINTED ON TABLOID SIZE PAPER. Parts are on standard letter size paper.

Superb and Moving Work
Our top concert band, the Iowa State University Wind Ensemble, performed this work last semester. It is an emotional work, extremely musical, and although challenging for the players, it is very playable. We enjoyed working on this brilliant composition from Phil Orem, who is a four-star composer. His writing is lyrical, thoughtful, and he has a full understanding of instrumental strengths and weaknesses. Highly, highly recommended work!
