Great Harpist/Composers of the Early 19th Century. Edited by Catherine Michel; Carl Swanson. This edition: saddle-wire stitch. Collection. 42 pages. Carl Fischer Music #H87. Published by Carl Fischer Music (CF.H87).ISBN 9781491169629. UPC: 798408102197. 9x12 inches.
While most standard harp repertoire today consists mainly of late nineteenth- and twentieth-century pieces and keyboard transcriptions, this valuable collection features music originally written for the harp in the early nineteenth century: 1800 to 1850. The three harpist-composers in this edition were all famous virtuoso performers of their day who made enormous contributions to the harp and its repertoire. Nicolas-Charles Bochsa, Elias Parish-Alvars, François-Joseph Dizi composed quite difficult music; however, the six pieces offered in this volume are of an intermediate level, and gorgeous to play.
