In this sheet music for guitar I have arranged a classic, beautiful song sung by many throughout the years such as Bette Midler. I found it hard to find music for this and when I did I realised how nicely it sat under the fingers in this key and so I proceeded to complete this guitar sheet music. It is a lovely piece of music which could be slotted into any classical or finger style guitarists repertoire.
This piece is likely at the mid – high intermediate range on guitar possibly around grade 5. If you are intending to use this for an exam please ensure it is at the correct standard with your examining authority.
I have left scope for interpretation for dynamics by omitting direction in their regard. I would say however there are some points where the melody of the tune is at a risk of being lost among the melodic fills and scales, ensure you know which notes are the melody and bring those notes out over what is essentially the accompaniment. Classical guitar sheet music can sometimes seem a little cluttered with position instructions etc I have not included any in this version for the sake of aiming to keep pages down to a minimum. I may, however revise this at some point to include.
Colin Raye was the first to release this beautiful song in 1992. Bette Midler’s version would come in ’95. However the version I first heard which inspired this particular arrangement was by the Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo’ole in ’96. The song made top 100 in numerous charts from various singers.
