Een detachement van inheemse soldaten trekken door het dorp, dan klinkt er een lied van een boot op de Nijl zachtjes over het water, een korte impressie van een Arabier met waterpijp. De soldaten keren terug en sommige van hen zingen het lied in harmonie naar een rustig einde.

A detatchment of native soldiers approach and pass through the village, then a song from a boat on the Nile is heard softly across the water; a short passage depicting an Arab playing his pipe, leads to a repetition of the song-melody. The soldiers return and some of them sing the song in harmony. A few bars of the melody bring the piece to a quiet conclusion.

Un détachement de soldats indigènes s’approche et traverse le village, quand on entend doucement une chanson venant d’un bateau sur le Nil. Un passage bref dépeignant un Arabe jouant de sa flûte mène à la reprise de la chanson. Les soldats reviennent et quelques-uns d’entre eux chantent la chanson en harmonie. Quelques mesures de la mélodie mènent la pièce vers une conclusion tranquille.

Eine Truppenabteilung mit besonderer Aufgabe von einheimischen Soldaten ziehen durch ein Dorf, dann ertönt leise ein Lied von einem Boot auf dem Nil und kommt über das Wasser, eine kurze Impression von einem Araber mit einer Wasserpfeife. Die Soldaten kehren zurück und einige von ihnen singen das Lied in Harmonie und bringen es zu einem ruhigen Ende.
