Composed by WAGSTAFF, Julian. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 47 pages. Julian Wagstaff #3011867. Published by Julian Wagstaff (A0.971711).This string trio was commissioned by the music society of King's Buildings, the science campus Edinburgh University, in 2011. It was premiered by members of the Edinburgh Quartet in April of that year. The work is in three movements, each inspired by the work of a different researcher at the Centre for Science at Extreme Conditions in Edinburgh. The first movement is a musical journey through the high-pressure phases of the element sulphur, the second envisages a journey to Saturn's moon Titan, while the third is an expressionistic representation of the structure of the substance CL20, the most explosive substance known to man.
