In Dreams is a gentle, contemplative piece based on a harmonically ambiguous arepeggiated ten-note figure in the right-hand which moves in and out of phase with the meter of the left hand part (largely 3/4). It builds to a warm forte section about two-thirds of the way through before dying away to nothing as the right-hand figure gradually evaporates. It isn't technically very difficult but keeping the more melodic left-hand part expressive whilst keeping the right-hand part dispassionate and cold is a good challenge for a more advanced student.
