Improvisation on Sevenths by Richard Clarke Trombone Solo - Digital Sheet Music

By Richard Clarke

A complex and vibrant composition for solo trombone, based on the famous Sibelius Symphony No. 7 trombone melodies that breaks out into a wild extemporization of fourth and seventh intervals and various meters. In the introduction, Sibelius's melody is taken apart; after which, a solemn march appears at figure A; followed by a noble and increasingly angular melody at figure B; a thrilling mult-imetered Dance at figure C leads directly to the re-statement of the original melody at figure D; the final two pages, called Groove, is a relentless dirge and drive towards the final Sibelius quote, one octave higher. This piece is technically advanced and features slide vibrato, combined singing/playing, extreme registers and flutter tongue, but is highly adaptable to the player's interpretation.
