The idea for this arrangement of Jingle Bells came from my fellow composer and arranger Larry Clark, whose very successful iJingle for beginning concert band was published in 2015. What a great idea, for students to make the sound of sleigh bells with their cell phones and allowing for audience members to participate in the performance too. Although this choral adaptation cannot be performed with the concert band version, it has some humorous words to make it special for young choirs.Your singers will need to download a free sleigh bells app. It is important to try to find one that works in tempo with the music. Some of them have a slight delay and therefore are not as useful for this piece. These are the ones that seemed to work the best:iPhone – Apple App Store; Android – Google Play Store; Santa Sleigh Christmas Bells 3D Sleigh Bells Ring Christmas Jingle Bells.In addition to Jingle Bells, your students will have an opportunity to sing the melody of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy while phrases of Deck the Hall are played by the piano.Have some "jingle bell fun" singing this!~S.K.
