This beautiful piece of 16th Century Renaissance music works really well in this arrangement for Clarinet Quartet. The key has been chosen to match the rich sonorities of the instruments. The arranger has also taken the trouble to add phrasing and dynamics that accurately reflect how the overlapping phrases would be sung: showing the rise and fall and interplay between the parts, as one comes to the fore and is replaced by another.
