I've Got The D String Bluesis a relaxed 12 bar blues in 6/8. It is written for Vn.1, Vn.2, Viola, Cello, Bass and (optional) Piano accompaniment. This piece is written for players 5th-8th grade. All string parts are in 1st position. Vn.1 and Viola use all four strings. Vn. 2, Cello and Bass use the A, D, and G strings. The Piano part is optional and may be used only to assist rehearsals. The themes are written in a Call and Response style between the upper and lower strings. All five parts get to contribute to the melody so the players feel their part is meaningful.
