This short lyrical piece is based on the gentle poem by Robert Frost, a farmer's springtime invitation for us to enjoy the simple pleasures of the natural world. The poem is an example of Frost's use of colloquial speech to create a beautifully structured text, a wonderful marriage of simplicity and sophistication. My piece is conventional in style, marked 'with simple lyricism and increasing joyfulness'. Whlist Frost's poem remains rather restrained, my interpretation becomes more passionate as Spring turns into Summer.
