Composed by Thomas Tallis (1567). Arranged by Richard E Brown. A Cappella,Praise & Worship,Renaissance,Sacred. 12 pages. Dacker Music #4287299. Published by Dacker Music (A0.814787).This is a varied arrangement of Thomas Tallis' famous Third Mode Melody of 1567. The text is by Horatius Bonar from 1848, and is the one most commonly associated with this tune.
My arrangement begins with a SAB paraphrase of Ralph Vaughan Williams' 1906 revoicing of the Tallis a cappella hymn over a sustained pedal point in the organ for the first verse. Then the organ enters fully and the other two verses are subjected to varied interaction between voices and organ before returning quietly to the a cappella Tallis/RVW voicing for the last line.
