"I Heard It Through the Grapevine" was written in 1966, but not released until a year later on Motown Records by Gladys Knight & the Pips. It quickly went to #1 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart. Marvin Gaye released his cover of the song in 1968, and it overtook Gladys' version at the top. Several other artists, including Ray Charles and CreedenceClearwater Revival also covered hit recordings of the catchy tune. But history was made in 1986 when a TV commercial for Sun Maid featured claymation raisins singing & dancing to the tune, and the music was a smash hit all over again. It's an addictively catchy R&B soul song that keeps your fingers snapping!
