Dangerously alluring sirens are represented by high sopranos, echoed by the worksongs of sailors in the ships below. As the sailors draw near, their anticipation builds to nearly overshadow the sirens’ song, building to a climactic shipwreck, after which one solitary siren sings a satisfied melody.
