Inspiration
Each of us, throughout our lives, are faced with choices where the path forward is unclear. Where the decision maybe a crossroad for our lives. Who can guide us? Who should we turn to? Jesus said "I Am The Way?"
The Music
A rousing church anthem that begins with the Tenor Soloist searching for answers. Presented with a difficult choice he asks Jesus "what should I do now?", "who will be my guide?". The choir responds with "I Am The Way", offering the response in a polyphonic round, so to speak. Once completed, the opening melody returns sung by the choir followed by a repeat of the chorus. A C section is then introduced, in a minor key, reminding us to follow the Light as Darkness can deceive. The Tenor soloist returns with the opening melody, now with minimal accompaniment, giving a retrospective feeling to the music. The anthem closes with a repeat of the chorus followed by the Tenor soloist giving the piece a finality.
