An original solo piano composition influenced by the composer's interactions with two resident hummingbirds. The melody rises and falls, mimicking the flight paths of these beautiful creatures as they move between their nests and the nourshing nectar in the bright red feeders. The composer utilizes scales and arpeggios in the A section melody, followed by a more relaxed feeling in the B section with the arpeggios in the left hand and the incorporation of a simple melody in the right hand. The recapitulation of the A section challenges the player with embellishments in the melody and an extended coda.
