In 1949, the English missionary Stuart K. Hine (1899-1989) composed a melody and created an English version based on the original Swedish poem "O Store Gud," which was written in 1885 by Carl Boberg (1859-1940), a Swedish poet and preacher. The result was the hymn "How Great Thou Art," which has become one of the most well-known Christian hymns.
The arrangement presented here is composed for two violins, a viola, and a cello.
