This song (the title means "jumping in puddles") has been popular since the album "Takk" first was released in 2005: , and went mainstream after being used in ads in 2006 for BBC's Planet Earth then Planet Earth II.
The song has appeared the trailers for films such as "Slumdog Millionaire and "Children of Men", and has been featured consistently in the media ever since, most recently, in 2026, the finale of "The Traitors" UK.
I was first asked to write a quartet arrangement of this song for a wedding quite a few years ago now, and it's been a staple in the quartet pads ever since. I've transposed the song to the more string friendly Bflat major rather than the original key, Bmajor.
Hoppipolla is perfect for weddings, as well as any other occasion, and it works beautifully for strings.
