Turlough O'Carolan was a famous blind Irish harper and composer who died in 1738. His lyric and finely-crafted melodies partly resemble Irish fiddle tunes but are more richly constructed. I chose nine of them and made full, romantic piano settings, using a variety of keys and introducing some novel metric and rhythmic variations (I set one tune in 11/16, for example).
