Violin 1 carries the melody for the first verse and then Violin 2 and Viola (or Violin 3) alternate the melody for verse 2. This is an excellent arrangement for a late beginner to intermediate string group since all notes on the violin and viola can be played in the first position and up to the second position for the cello.
