Following the opening fanfare, verse 1 is scored for unison voices, brass and organ, verse 2 for 4-part choir with solo trumpet, and verse 3 for unaccompanied choir. After a key change, the final rousing verse employs unison choir, descant, assembly and all instruments. The brass writing is striking and the vocal parts require only a minimum of rehearsal.
