Composed by John Dykes - 1861. Arranged by Bill Cates. This edition: pdf. Religious, Sacred. 40 pages. In Nomine Ejus Publishing House, Greensboro, NC 27406 #1433792. Published by In Nomine Ejus Publishing House, Greensboro, NC 27406 (A0.1874821).This is a wild and wooly version of Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty for brass (quintet or ensemble), organ and percussion, (timpani and cymbals). Is perfect for a Call to Worship for a special service, or Postlude for a special service, or as the OFFERTORY of a special service. It is rhythmical, fast, dissonant at times, with very challenging meter changes and syncopation for the players.
The organist may find it easier and more fun to include a helper, i.e., four hands. It was premiered in 2015 by the Da Capo Brass group of (Greensboro, NC) at the Myers Park United Methodist Church (Charlotte, NC) with organist extraordinaire Jimmy Jones at the keyboard by himself, and myself conducting. What an honor to create this piece for my friends in Da Capo and Jimmy. To my wonderful musical friend Jimmy Jones, (best overall organist I have ever heard), rest in peace!
Enjoy his music!
Bill Cates.
