This instrumental setting of Bon Iver's "Holocene" will be an excellent addition to your quartet's gig book. The first violin gracefully drifts in and out of Justin Vernon's haunting melodies, while role of the acoustic guitar ostinato from the album version is filled by a 2-part pizzicato figure between Violin 2 & Viola, enabling your string quartet to perform this chart without the need for any additional musicians or tracks.
Extended techniques including chopping and artificial harmonics are used to emulate the unique production style of Bon Iver's recording. While not the flashiest or most technically dazzling chart in my catalog, this tune will give your ensemble a great opportunity to vibe out, settle into the groove, and provide pleasant ambience to events such as:
