Written for Clarinet in B-flat, Violoncello, and Piano, it comprises four short movements depicting a day in an ominous Hollywood hotel.
The first movement, "Operator?", introduces the bustling hotel lobby with people arriving, departing, and relaxing in the grand salon.
"Elevator Ride," the second movement, portrays a peculiar and unsettling elevator journey.
The atmosphere becomes increasingly eerie in the third movement, "Room 13B," culminating in a frantic "Check-Out Express" in the fourth movement.
