Part of a 'Pop Song Layer-Up' series - these arrangements take something familiar and do something a bit different. Designed to be experimented with, they are fun, brain stretching vocal warm-ups, or can be made into quick, easy-win filler songs. The concept of the 'Layer-Up' is to take elements of a song, layer and stack them, to hear what new harmonies and rhythms are created. This pack has three options to encourage experimentation: A stack of 16 bar phrases to play around with bringing in different layers, and finding out which layers sound best together Taking the chorus and singing it as a canon with new entries every 2 beats A long-form round - the song rearranged slightly into 8-bar phrases with 5 potential entry points I hope the 'layer-ups' provide an intial framework and give permission to leaders to play and have fun creating something new with their group. They're a great way to build confidence, listening skills and focus (for both leader and ensemble). We know that rounds and partner songs provide great brain training for singers to concentrate on their part, understand where it fits into the whole and not be swayed by the multiple notes and rhythms moving around their line. Leaders can turn their vocal group into a human loop pedal - over which they have complete control ;) - so long as everyone is watching and understands the instruction - experiment with dynamics, tempo, key changes, and a spot of cheeky body percussion!
