HIVE is inspired by the sounds of a honeybee hive, from a calm droning to an angry buzzing as the hive defends itself from an intruder. Finally, the hive calms down and divides, the bees leaving one by one to form a new colony. The music uses trills, tremolos, brass mutes and other devices to add to the tonal palette, and keep the player's and listener's interest throughout. Avoiding any need for rhythmic synchronization, by focusing on timbre and dynamic intensity, this is the perfect piece for your ensemble to perform on Zoom during periods of isolation. Duration: 4-6+ minutes
