Pure Enjoyment Playing This Classic
I absolutely love playing 'Highland Cathedral' with my community band! Jay Dawson's Grade 3 arrangement makes this beautiful, Scottish-flavored march so enjoyable and rewarding. It's challenging enough to feel accomplished but totally achievable for weekend players. The regal melody by Roever and Korb really shines, and it sounds fantastic when we play it. A definite crowd-pleaser for any event!

Highland Cathedral
This is a very popular and very playable(German composed) Scottish piece. The arrangement is successful, particularly for upper woodwind, though others (eg Farthing's) are good too.

Highland Cathedral Earns Respect!
Our 1st trumpet requested Highland Cathedral for Hunstanton Concert Band, and after listening to several versions on youtube, I settled on this one. Others were either too simplified, or included bagpipes (or both). Aside of the fact that I find Scottish great pipes playing with a wind band excrutiating (intonation!!), we don't have any bagpipers. When the music arrived, it transpired that our percussionist had always detested the piece, but having played it through, he was converted. We are looking forward to using it at church services and our upcoming lest we forget concert. There are no serious difficulties in the piece, but nothing important is missing, either.
