"Hello, Goodbye" was released as a single on November 24, 1967. The song was included on the American version of Magical Mystery Tour, released in that country three days later.
The song reached the top of the charts in the United States, remaining at that position for three weeks, and became the 15th No. 1 song in the country. It also reached the top of the British charts, remaining at that position for seven weeks, and was the No. 1 single of Christmas.
