Hebrides overture Die Hebriden Op 26 (complete) arr. String Quartet by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn String Quartet - Digital Sheet Music

By Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn

One of my absolute favourite orchestral overtures is known under several names: The Hebrides Overture. Die Hebriden, Fingal's Cave, Fingalshöhle. This dramatic overture, concieved when Medelssohn was on holiday in the Hebrides in 1829 and visited Fingal's Cave, and finished in 1830, is casting a spell from the very first note. Here it is, arranged for string quartet. This is the complete work: no cuts, no simplifications, and, as the original is for full orchestra, these string parts aren't always what you'd expect, so you might be a clarinet one moment, and a trumpet the next, before returning to your usual part, although the big solos and orchestral exerpts that you may have been practising will make an appearance (hello viola players, looking at you especially!) If you'd like a fun way to learn your orchestral excerpts whilst enjoying playing this stunning work for any event that you have coming up, there's no better way to multitask! Also, if you are having a coastal wedding and would like a fantastic, dramatic piece of music to make your entrance to, you can't go wrong with the Hebrides Overture. It'd also work really well as a surprising addition to a sea-themed quartet recital.Thank you for looking and hope that you enjoy this String Quartet arrangement of Mendelssohn's "The Hebrides/Die Hebriden".
