Heaven Near the Earth is een compositie van Afonso Alves geïnspireerd door het geloof dat er een paradijs is voor de ziel als het lichaam sterft. Maar zolang we leven, ligt het in onze handen om het paradijs op aarde te bouwen. De 1e beweging is episch en met contrasterende texturen, waarbij de kopersectie een intense dialoog aangaat met het bos. De 2e beweging is rustig, voorgedragen, en betrekt alle instrumenten in kleurrijke secties. De 3e beweging is licht en helder, met een melodisch ostinato in crescendo tot de finale, die grote spanning creëert tot het einde van de compositie. Een uitstekende optie voor de opening van een concert.

Heaven Near the Earth is a composition by Afonso Alves inspired by the belief that there is a paradise for the soul when the body dies. But as long as we live, it is in our hands to build paradise on earth. The 1st movement is epic with contrasting textures, with the brass section entering into an intense dialogue with the forest. The 2nd movement is quiet, recited, engaging all instruments in colourful sections. The 3rd movement is light and bright, with a melodic ostinato in crescendo until the finale, which creates great tension until the end of the composition. An excellent option for the opening of a concert.

Heaven Near the Earth est une composition d'Afonso Alves inspirée par la croyance qu'il existe un paradis pour l'âme lorsque le corps meurt. Mais tant que nous vivons, c'est à nous de construire le paradis sur terre. Le premier mouvement est épique, avec des textures contrastées, la section des cuivres entrant dans un dialogue intense avec la forêt. Le deuxième mouvement est calme, récité, engageant tous les instruments dans des sections colorées. Le troisième mouvement est léger et lumineux, avec un ostinato mélodique en crescendo jusqu'au final, qui crée une grande tension jusqu'à la fin de la composition. Une excellente option pour l'ouverture d'un concert.

Heaven Near the Earth ist eine Komposition von Afonso Alves, die von dem Glauben inspiriert ist, dass es ein Paradies für die Seele gibt, wenn der Körper stirbt. Solange wir aber leben, liegt es in unserer Hand, das Paradies auf Erden zu errichten. Der 1. Satz ist episch mit kontrastreichen Texturen, wobei die Blechbläser in einen intensiven Dialog mit dem Wald treten. Der 2. Satz ist ruhig und rezitiert, wobei alle Instrumente in farbenfrohen Abschnitten eingesetzt werden. Der 3. Satz ist leicht und hell, mit einem melodischen Ostinato im Crescendo bis zum Finale, das eine große Spannung bis zum Ende der Komposition erzeugt. Eine ausgezeichnete Wahl für die Eröffnung eines Konzerts.
