The lyrics remind us that in our busyness we need to pause and consider our motives: "In the glare of earthly pleasure, in the fight for earthly treasure...Have you forgotten God?"
This quartet arrangement uses the same harmonies on all three verses making it easy to master in a short time. Though the song is bold and communicates a sense of urgency, it should not be sung so fast the meaning of the verses are overshadowed by the powerful chorus. The original hymn included 5 verses and a lyric sheet is provided showing these additional verses.
The vocal parts are classified as intermediate; however the piano accompaniment is more in line with advanced-intermediate skills. Set in the key of C major, the vocal ranges are as follows: SOPRANO 1 - E4 to E5; ALTO - C4 to A4; TENOR - F3 to D4; BASS - G2 to G3.
