Composed by George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Geoffrey Cottrell. Baroque,Instructional. Score and parts. 25 pages. Geoffrey Cottrell #16739. Published by Geoffrey Cottrell (A0.866308).
This lovely Sonata by Handel is melodious, has many interesting ideas, and was originally written for Viola da Gamba and Harpsichord in C major. There are four movements: Adagio, Allegro, Adagio and a final Allegro. In this arrangement for Violin and Bass Continuo, it has been transposed into the key of D which works well for all the instruments. It is fun and easy to play with either keyboard alone or with added cello. It would be ideal as an easy concert or instructional piece for an advancing beginner, and there is scope, particularly in the beautiful middle Adagio, for the more adventurous to add their own ornamentation. It will delight both players and listeners! added first and second repeat bars to the Adagio, and have made some minor changes to avoid octave doublings. Geoffrey Cottrell 2015.
