Perfection isn't easily achieved. And, over the years, he even re-figured it many times for various performances for different artists! The melody is melancholic and sad - yet uplifting at the same time. It is rather like a hymn, or even a dirge - very somber and solemn. This String Trio arrangement is very near and dear to my heart, but it was a labor of love. All 3 instruments trade off with the solo melody and with the accompanying triplet pattern.
