I composed this piece for my student orchestra - the Meherrin Chamber Orchestra. As the music director, I was having trouble finding music that my beginning students could perform that also sounded sophisticated enough to interest the more advanced players and for an audience to enjoy. This piece came a year after a successful performance of Meherrin Symphony No. 1 which is easier and shorter than No. 2.
