This is a three-movement guitar sonata with an estimated performance time of 20 to 21 minutes.
The movements are as follows:
I. Moderato
II. Andante
III. Moderato
The movements are sonata form, variations and fugue. The first movement is an agitated Shostakovich-influenced quasi-jazz sonata form with a fully repeating exposition. The variations on are "Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus". The finale is athree-voiced fugue which, like the opening sonata form, is in C sharp minor. The fugue subject is a staccato quasi-rock riff and the fugue culminates in a reprise of the first theme from the opening sonata form.
